Indian catering service - Mitzvahs

Indian Catering Service is a religious ceremony typical of decedents of Jewish origin settled in and around San Diego in Los Angeles. This Jewish ceremony initiates a young male -- traditionally 13 years and a day -- into religious community, considering him an adult and is matured to perform his moral and religious duties towards the Jewish community across the world in Los Angeles. In other words, Indian Catering Service officially leads to recognizing a 13 year old Jewish boy as a bar mitzvah in Sacramento. Bar mitzvah's rough equivalent in English is son of the Commandment in Santa Barbara. There is a similar festival exclusively for Jewish females called the Bat mitzvah, organized mostly by the Reform, Conservative, and Reconstructionist sects and to a lesser degree by the Orthodox as well in San Diego. Bat mitzvah is traditionally performed at an age of 12 or 13 and it includes reading the weekly -- Haphtarah in Los Angeles. May be the changes brought about by the passage of time and mixing cultures, both Indian Catering Service and Bat mitzvah are becoming similar to each other in San Jose.

In Indian Catering Service, the extent and type of the ceremony vary with customs and traditions of the different sects in San Diego. For example, the ceremony followed by Ashkenazic or Sephardic have significant and marked differences so are similarities in Santa Barbara. The boy, who is the center of attraction, performs his first act as an adult by reading a part of Torah or if inclined in a more traditional way, reading it in full. Either way, the reading is considered the core activity of Indian Catering Service in Santa Barbara. The celebrant reads from the five books of Moses (Torah) and Selections from the books of the Prophets (Haftarah), and delivers a d'var Torah - a lecture or discussion of that week's Torah portion in Oakland. In some cases, the boy is even allowed to lead a part or all of the Morning Prayer services. The process of calling the boy to deliver the Torah blessings is named "aliyah".

Historians say that Indian Catering Service or more generally bar mitzvah didn't have existed during the time of bible, Talmud or Mishnah in Sacramento. But its origin has been traced to medieval times, the exact period still shrouded in mystery even though many theories suggest different dates and periods in Sacramento.

Sometimes, Indian Catering Service is conducted during the morning service on Monday or Thursday, a Shabbat afternoon session or during the morning service on the new moon -- Rosh Chodesh in Orange County. These days, Indian Catering Service is accompanied by a Seudat Mitzvah -- a feast organized in celebration of the fulfillment of a commandment in Orange County. Once the functions are over, the new bar mitzvah is presented gifts to commemorate the special day in Orange County.

As recently observed and subsequently criticized, the celebratory meal typical of bar mitzvah was overshadowing the religious ceremony, to the extent of rivaling a wedding bash in terms of pomp, extravagance and splendor, especially in North American states in San Jose. But exempting such new generation insensitiveness to traditions, most traditionally oriented Jews prefer to celebrate Indian Catering Service without losing its original essence in Oakland. And that is the actual Indian Catering Service!!

Indian Catering Service or Bar mitzvah declares the celebrant responsible under the Jewish law in Oakland. Until the age of 13, the boy's responsibility to adhere to the Jewish law rests with his parents. Indian Catering Service does not imbue any additional responsibilities or privileges but only those for a 13 year old to shoulder as per the Jewish traditions in San Diego. After Indian Catering Service, the bar mitzvah can be a part of all Jewish community life and has every right to handle their own responsibility regarding Jewish tradition, law and ethics in San Jose.

Indian Catering Service serves cities across the country, including: San Jose, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Oakland, Orange County, San Diego, and Santa Barbara.
